A few months ago, the battery on our solar light panel stopped working. This means the lights went off, and the power went out! One of the most special things about Kisimani School is that it is a beacon of light in an area with no power grid. Teachers have access to the internet, a printer and computers. Parents can come and charge their cells phones as well, and pay a small donation to the school instead of traveling into town to charge their phones.
We are fundraising here in the US to help get the lights and power back on by replacing this battery and if possible, extending the panel to the new classrooms. Any contributions above and beyond the cost of the project (about $5,000) will be put towards construction of much-needed offices for our amazing teachers!
