Communications/Administrative Assistant Service Safari Project Lead |
Past volunteers have completed both short and long-term projects locally at school in Tanzania, and there are a number of ways to be involved from wherever you live!
Please schedule a meeting with Leah if you would like to apply for any of our current positions, or have an idea for a pro bono project of your own.

All positions at Friends of Kisimani School are pro bono - we are a team of volunteers giving our time and resources where it is needed most. We work together so that 'many hands make light work', and we can afford to have 100% of our donors' funds go directly to the projects we support at Kisimani School.
On average, our team is offering between 5-20 hours of time per month, sometimes more, sometimes less depending on the role. We have one recurring team meeting per month to share ideas and envision our goals together.
We would love to have you join us!
Library Project Lead
Kisimani School wants to build a library! We need your help to raise the cost-sharing funds necessary, as well as connect supportive resources to our staff at school as they set up the library for the first time once it is complete. You are passionate about school libraries and the opportunities they unlock for students. You have personal experience as a librarian, or are willing to network and gather resources from librarians both in your own community and locally in Tanzania. You will be the project lead on helping this vision come to life!
Social Media Manager
You are the magic behind the scenes that help share our story with our donors, and the world. You'll create content and strategy for our social media channels on Instagram and Facebook. You'll take both recent and archived stories and images and turn them into inspiring calls to action for our supporters and friends. Create content and calendars for fundraising and new project launches.
Grant Writer/Editor
Sometimes the right words can make a world of difference. You are the secret sauce that will support our local non-profit partner, EPI, in applying for local and international grants. You'll work directly with Leah and Samuel Yonah to finalize EPI's grant applications and support their vision of scaling what we are doing at Kisimani to other schools in Tanzania. You'll also spend 1 hour per month researching grant opportunities for our two organizations to apply to.
Pro bono Bookkeeper/CPA
The details make the dream work. You are a bookkeeper or CPA looking for a pro bono client to support for 1 hour per quarter, and a bit more at tax time. You'll help us keep clean books, run simple reports, and communicate with our local accountant in Tanzania, Cassian and Associates. You'll help us file the appropriate 501(c)3 tax documents at the right time every year.
Videographer
Help us tell the story. You'll help us on a project/needs basis create short videos to tell the Kisimani School story to our communities, and inspire more collaboration in the future. You are a skilled editor, storyteller, and feel comfortable working with raw footage that you did not shoot yourself. You have a vision for how we can strategically plan the video footage we ask our staff to shoot. You edit and create both evergreen videos that live on our website, as well as short videos related to our current projects and fundraising goals.
